Independent Rural Media is a Yorkshire-based web studio. We are the data controller for any personal information you share with us through this website or in the course of working with us.

We only collect the minimum information needed to respond to you and run our business:

• Enquiry data: your name, email address and the contents of any email you send us.
• Client data: contact details, billing information and project content provided during an engagement.
• Basic analytics: anonymised, aggregated data about pages visited and broad geography, used to improve the site. We do not use cross-site advertising cookies.

Cookies: the site uses Google Analytics cookies to measure how pages are used. These are only set if you press "Accept" on the cookie notice. If you decline, no analytics cookies are set and the site works exactly as normal. You can clear your choice at any time by deleting this site's data in your browser, and the notice will appear again.

We use your information to reply to your enquiry, deliver the services you've asked us to provide, send invoices, and keep records as required by law. We do not sell your data, and we do not use it for marketing without your consent.

We process your information on the basis of (a) legitimate interest in responding to enquiries and running our business, (b) contractual necessity once you become a client, and (c) legal obligation for accounting and tax records.

We share information only with the sub-processors needed to deliver our services — such as our email provider, hosting partner (Linode / Akamai Connected Cloud) and accounting software. Each operates under their own UK GDPR-compliant terms. We do not transfer your data outside permitted jurisdictions.

Enquiry emails are kept for up to 24 months unless a project starts. Client records and invoices are kept for 7 years to meet UK accounting requirements, after which they are securely deleted.
